Nokia 5 is the mid-range smartphone from HMD Global. Priced at Rs 12,899, it will be available for pre-booking from 7 July. The device aims to bring to you the perfect fit. We got to spend some time with the Nokia 5 and here's what we think about it.
The Nokia 5 sports a unibody metal design. The metal build feels solid in hands. Nokia brings back the hope of those sturdy devices, while maintaining an elegant look. The Nokia 5, for that matter, looks stunning. The front side has a home button that doubles as a fingerprint scanner. The rear side has the camera and flash clubbed together in a neat unit, and the antenna-less back ensures a clean texture. We got our hands on the copper model, but you also get black, blue and silver colour options.
HMD Global calls it the perfect fit, and that's probably the reason why the company has gone ahead with a 5.2-inch display. It gets a Corning Gorilla glass atop. It's an HD display, which is disappointing for a device available at this price point. However, for the limited time we used it, the viewing angles seemed fine and the display looked bright.
The Nokia 5 comes with a 13MP rear snapper with auto-focus. It also gets an 8MP wide-angle lens on the front. In the limited time, we didn't get the chance to dabble much with the camera, and will reserve our comment for later once we get the device in our labs.
Processor and OS
The device comes powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 coupled with 2GB of RAM. It runs Android Nougat, and HMD Global has promised timely updates.
The Nokia 5 packs in 16GB storage, but it is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card slot. So, there is enough storage space for all your photos and videos.
The device is fuelled by a 3000mAh battery, just like its expensive sibling Nokia 6. However, we will have to take it for a spin in our labs to know how much battery life it can offer.
