Apple may launch three variants of the iPhone this year allegedly the iPhone 7s, iPhone 7s Plus and iPhone 8. The iPhone 7s models are believed to be identical to the iPhone 7 while the iPhone 8 will be the big surprise with an overhaul design code-named Ferrari.
The iPhone 8 will come with big design overhaul on the outside as well as inside. A borderless OLED display and all-glass design has been the most consistent rumour, while the internal redesign may include breaking the logic board into discrete units that are connected with a flex cable. The position of the SIM tray could be changed in order to make room for more components.
Apple is known to bring in newer and attractive colour options. We saw the jet black with the iPhone 7. Rumour has it the company celebrate its anniversary with a red variant. Yes, imagine a shiny red iPhone 8!
All three variants are expected to feature wireless charging, and it won't just be limited to the higher-end iPhone 8, according to KGI's Ming Chi Kuo who is known to reveal accurate details about the device. Wireless charging ability is seen in Samsung devices.
The wireless charging could lead to the device producing more heat and this will lead to the need for a new granite layer to protect the film 3D Touch sensor. The glass casing would be as effective as aluminum, according to reports, and this will mean bump in prices at the manufacturing end, eventually passe don to consumers.
Fast Company says that the luxury iPhone 8 will cost not less than a whopping $1000, may be slightly higher. OLED is expensive and so are the premium materials the company plans to use.
It will come powered by Apple's own SoC, and so expect the A11 chip. Also expected is a boost in memory, at least for the iPhone 8 variant. Dual rear camera setup could come fitted into the new model too. The iPhone 8 will run iOS 11 and also feature water resistance capability.
The premium iPhone 8 along with other two models is likely to be launched at an event to be held in September.
