A golden pendant and chain went missing from Ambalappuzha Sri Krishna Temple. The centuries old 'pathakkam', a Nava Ratna-studded pendant, and the chain, were part of sacred ornaments used to decorate presiding deity on auspicious occasions.

The chain and pendant, which were part of Thiruvabharanam, are said to be missing since Vishu festival, celebrated on April 14. Devotees have reported having seen the pendant during the annual festival.

The Devaswom Commissioner has confirmed that the ornaments are missing. The authorities noted this when the pendant was put back after Vishu celebrations.

Travancore Devaswom Board president Prayar Gopalakrishnan has ordered a probe by vigilance wing of the board. Devaswom Vigilance SP Ratheesh Krishnan has been asked to submit a report at the earliest, he said.

He also said that the board would write to the Chief Minister seeking a Crime Branch probe.

A golden accessory fitted atop an umbrella during festival processions had gone missing from the temple more than one and a half decade ago. Though investigations were conducted, the object could not be recovered.
