Phishing: Fake but exactly similar looking mailers sent to individuals asking to reveal their personal information like passwords, debit pins, credit card numbers etc. More often than not these mailers also have clickable links which hacks the information from your mail box as soon as you click on them. Or directs you to a page from where the data gets easily hacked. Poof! And all your money is gone!
Fraudulent calls: One of the most common but major money stealing scheme is fraud calls by people claiming that your ATM card has been blocked and they urgently need your pin to upgrade/change/unlock your ATM card. Despite being so obvious, fraudulent calls are the easiest way your money gets stolen.
Saved card options: Whenever possible avoid checking the “save card details” option. Companies/outlets can easily retrieve this information and misuse it.
Fake ID proof: The fraudsters themselves call up your service providers pretending to be you and ask to deactivate SIM cards. Once your mobile SIM gets de-activated, the online thief easily asks for a OTP on a new (their own number).
Vishing: Vishing is just like phishing but done through a mobile phone.
