A 2-year old girl was mauled by 10 stray dogs in Anekal.
A two-year old girl died after a pack of 10 dogs attacked her near a brick kiln in Kattahalli in Anekal taluk on Thursday afternoon. Anjali, the daughter of two kiln workers- Mahesh and Lakshmidevamma- was playing when the dogs attacked her. Her parents were busy working at the kiln at that time. Devamma informed police that she had left Anjali outside the factory at about 11:30 am and had gone inside to switch off the electric mortar. On returning, she found her daughter lying unconscious with her entrails out.
A worker saw the child attacked by the dogs and ran to rescue. He said that the dogs may have been loitering in the factory compounds to feed on Offal. He further said, "the child may have screamed but we didn't hear her. We saw the dogs attacking her and fleeing." In fact, this worker was the first person to inform Anjali's parents about the incident. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead.
The family belonged to the Kalburgi district and were working in the factory for the past 8 months. They lived in a makeshift shed within the factory premises.
An increase in stray dog menace has gripped Bengaluru for quite some time now. Although locals have complained about the issue to the authorities, the latter have turned a blind eye to the problems that citizens face. Similar incidences of death of children caused by stray dogs have been recorded in the Devanahalli and Yelahanka area.
